Enjoy life

There is nothing more sacred than our time. It's great to work doing what you love, but once the project is finished, the sun is down, and the cleaning staff is giving you the evil eye, it is time to go home. What is home to you? For me, it has always been being by water. It can be a lake, a stream, the ocean, or my backyard pond, but that is where I feel the most at home. I work to live because in the end, that is what is left us.

I have been blessed with a fantastic family and spouse. They're quirky. Some of us are downright odd. We don't see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues, but we come together when it counts. My friends are the same (except for the issues part). If it weren't for their love and direction, and sometimes sideways glances, I wouldn't be as happy as I am. I'm glad they didn't laugh when I told them about my dreams. And I'm thankful for their patience while I learn and work things out.

Give Back

"No one becomes poor by giving."   Mother Theresa

I tell myself this whenever I feel I am holding back my gifts.

On November 11, 2017, my family was dealt a crushing blow. My 18 year old nephew was killed in an automobile accident. He was a kind, brilliant, talented young man. His loss has created a black hole in the lives of so many that knew him. But he will live on by helping other gifted students develop a technology trade through IVY Tech College thanks to so many generous people who gave toward the scholarship which became an endowment in his memory.

Now, I am committed to helping women in third world countries with micro-loans through Kiva. Women use these loans to create small enterprises in their own homes and communities. The money they make with their businesses directly benefits their families and communities. Along my life, I've had so many people help me up. This is one way I can offer a hand up to another woman.
